- Dr Lourens van Zyl is among the leading laser eye surgeons in the world and is one of less than a 1000 ophthalmologists worldwide who holds a Board Certified Fellowship from the World College of Refractive Surgery and Visual Sciences.
- Dr Lourens is the only internationally recognised laser eye surgeon in Western Australia by holding this prestigious fellowship. He has dedicated is professional career to Laser Eye Surgery and advanced vision correction including cataracts.
- Dr Lourens has post graduate fellowships in Advanced Corneal and Anterior Segment surgery and Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Following his formal post graduate fellowship training, Dr Lourens completed a 1 year post graduate diploma followed by a 3 – year Master’s degree in Cataract and Laser Eye Surgery through the University of Sydney. To this day Dr Lourens is the only laser eye surgeon in Western Australia whom has undergone formal post-graduate training in the sub-specialty of Refractive Surgery and who holds a post graduate degree in the sub-specialty of Refractive Surgery.
- Further to that, Dr Lourens is Western Australia’s only laser eye surgeon whom has actively done research in the sub-specialty of Refractive Surgery and publish in high impact Refractive Surgery journals. As well as his medical degree, he is highly experienced in the medical and surgical management of all eye diseases. He is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and completed his Ophthalmology training in Adelaide, South Australia. He holds fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, The Colleges of Medicine of South Africa and The European Board of Ophthalmology.
Over the past 12 years I have had the absolute pleasure of helping tens of thousands of patients of various ages gain exceptional vision and freedom from glasses and contact lenses.
